Wisconsin Dells Original Ducks Tours

See Wisconsin Dells from a unique perspective - aboard an Original Ducks amphibious vehicle. These historic land and sea trucks were used during World War II to delivery supplies to troops in areas where docks had been damaged in battle. The tour is one hour long and covers lots of beautiful Wisconsin Dells scenery including a trip into the Wisconsin River, through a fern forest, and over Newman's Dam into Lake Delton. Learn the history of the area and have fun doing it.

What to Wear & Bring on Tour

Wear comfortable clothes suitable for current weather conditions - shorts and skirts when it's hot, coats and scarves when it's chilly. There's no AC or windows that close on the Duck, so if it's a rainy day, be sure to dress accordingly. A hat, camera, binoculars, snacks, and water are all good things to have on the ride. Don't forget to use the restroom before leaving because there are no pit stops on the one-hour tour.

FAQs

  • What measures are taken to ensure the safety and reliability of the Duck vehicles?

Ducks are checked daily around the hull during peak tour season, and twice a year they are put through an inspection in the water for leaks. If repairs are made, the Ducks are tested before being put back into tour circulation. There are 29 life jackets on each Duck boat as well as a ring buoy.
  • What are some unique features of the Duck Tour route?

The Original Ducks Tour includes many fascinating local features including Roller Coaster Hill and the sandstone cliffs of the Wisconsin River. Ducks traverse Newman's Dam—going up the dam rather than down it—into Lake Delton. See the site of the lost town of Newport before heading into the ferny canyon of Black Hawk Gorge.
